Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
Although we did not rate this facility well overall, we want to point out its relatively favorable nursing grade this year. We gave it a B+ in this area, which was much better than its overall rating. The nursing rating features a variety of datapoints. The most heavily weighted variable is the amount of time nurses spent with patients. This nursing home averages 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home was given its next best category grade in the area of short-term care. We awarded this facility a grade of B- in this area, which is a reasonably acceptable grade. Short-term care scores are crucial for individuals requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a wide scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The tricky part is determining what bearing this had on quality of care. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Facility Inspections
This nursing home did not receive favorable inspection reports in recent years. In fact, it only received a grade of D for its inspection grade. Our inspection grades account for several factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. This nursing home was assessed 7 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only positive thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they posed a risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility also received 8 substantiated complaints in recent years. This is yet another bad sign.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we rated is long-term care. This facility received a rock bottom grade of F in that area. For residents in need of a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are very important. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 98.60627 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
