Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to draw your attention to its excellent government inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A- in this category. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. It is typically in your best interest to avoid nursing homes that had too many deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even with this deficiency, this place still had a relatively positive report.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility's second best category is short-term care, but even there it received a grade of just D in that category. This ended up being a well below average grade. In the area of short-term care, we try to qualify measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We look at a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Based on its grade in this category, we weren't surprised to discover that this facility was well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the figures we assessed. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This wasn't a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, about half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.

Nurse Quality
Among this nursing home's several poor grades was its F in the area of nursing care. Our nursing rating analyzes the facility's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of licensure of the nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with patients. This nursing home averaged just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is an alarmingly low total. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing ratings. This nursing home performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these metrics to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to the last area, this facility didn't perform well in this category either. With a very poor grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. Long-term care grades in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. As it turns out, this nursing home gave the vaccine to only 70 percent of its residents, which is quite a bit lower than we expected. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
