Medical Staff Hours Per Patient (2019)
Nurse Quality
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B- for our nursing rating. We weighed the levels of nurses working for the nursing home, as well as the number of hours the nurses worked with patients, in calculating our grade in this area. According to its staffing data, this place provided an average of 4.1 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, which was above the national average. Finally, this nursing home was relatively weak in two of the areas we focus on, with below average scores for minimizing its patients' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
Incredibly, we gave this facility a B- for its short-term care score, which isn't too bad of a score. Our short-term care grades are vital for prospective residents needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires more skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a broad scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. One reason for this facility's strong score in this category is that it provides a substantially greater volume of physical therapist hours than the average nursing home. The last statistic we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents that ultimately returned home from the facility. It performed well in this metric with 63.9 percent of its residents returning home.
Facility Inspections
This nursing home did not receive favorable inspection reports in recent years. In fact, it only received a grade of D for its inspection grade. Inspection grades account for a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. This particular facility was assessed 5 deficiencies by CMS. The only favorable thing we found is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they posed a threat to resident safety or health. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we analyzed is long-term care, which is a weak spot for this nursing home. We gave this facility a grade of just D for our long-term care category. Facilities that receive this type of grade in this category likely don't provide the type of consistent around the clock care that some other nursing homes provide. Even though we determined this nursing home has a favorable quantity of nursing hours provided by nurses and other nursing staff, we found its vaccine statistics to be a bit low. This facility gave the pneumonia vaccine to just 70.37037 percent of its residents. This is one statistic we'd love to see this facility bring up. We were stunned with its hospitalization rate. We found that this place had 3.6 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is more than twice the national average. This is certainly an alarming statistic.
