Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a first rate facility overall, this facility also performed well in our long-term care category, where it received an A+. Few facilities performed better in this area. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in long-term care it typically means it's well-staffed and is an overall good place to reside on a permanent basis. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is much higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

This facility also earned an A+ inspection grade, making it one of the few nursing homes to receive multiple A+'s in our category grades. This grade is based on the nursing home's recent government inspections. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find deficiency data for this facility. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A-. In computing a facility's nursing rating, we weigh the number of hours nurses are with patients and the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In our last category, we awarded this facility an A+ for our short-term care score. This rounded out a very strong profile. Short-term care grades are generally employed to grade a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. In order to have high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to have higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other licensed professionals. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last metric we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients that who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that 4.7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
