Facility Inspections
One of the reasons this place turned out to be a great nursing home is that it earned an A+ in our inspections category. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. Inspection ratings are tied to many pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this category typically have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Adding to this nursing home's list of accomplishments, it also was given a first-rate long-term care grade. We gave them an impressive grade of A- in this category. Facilities that excel in long-term care tend to provide residents with more supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. One of the criteria we considered after nursing hours was vaccines. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 99.190285 percent of its patients. This is a great way to avoid unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the nursing home population. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility was awarded an impressive short-term care score as well. We awarded it one of our higher scores in that area with a score of B. In the area of short-term care, we attempt to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We look at a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this nursing home submitted information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients that were able to return home from this facility. We found that 5.1 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
Nurse Quality
Turning to the next category, this facility was awarded a respectable nursing grade. While this was not quite as dominant as some of its other scores, this is really nothing to be ashamed of. In calculating our nursing ratings, we factor in both nursing hours and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a much lower figure than we were hoping for. Finally, we look at quality-based statistics, such as the percent of patients who experienced pressure ulcers and major falls. Sometimes these metrics are measures of the quality of nursing care.
