Facility Inspections

Grade: B

While this nursing home's overall score was not a highlight, it did receive a very good grade in the category of inspections. We awarded it a grade of B for that area, which is one of our better scores. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection scores. One key factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these can be relatively minor. This nursing home was assessed 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to create an imminent risk to resident health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's second most favorable category was its short-term care grade, where it was given a B-. Our short-term care ratings are believed to be most meaningful for residents requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally utilizes additional skilled nursing services. This includes not just nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, this place was below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. The important question is whether this adversely affected quality of care. The final metric we considered in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. When calculating our nursing ratings, we look at both staffing levels and the levels of licensure of those nurses. This nursing home provided just 0.1 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a low total compared with most other facilities. Finally, nursing grades also factor in quality-based metrics, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this facility performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is generally an indicator that a place has quality controls in place. Some falls can be avoided if a facility provides enough nurses aids to assist its patients.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next area we analyzed was long-term care. It received an abysmal F in this area, which is an abysmal score. When facilities receive a score in this range in long-term care it generally means the nursing home didn't perform well in our quality measures relating to patient care. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 79.518074 percent of its residents. This is many points below what we were hoping for. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
