Short-term Care Quality
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A in our short-term care category. In computing our short-term care grades, we quantify the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our purpose is to devise a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last measure we considered in this area is the percentage of patients that eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
Facility Inspections
Turning to inspections, this facility excelled in that area, which is based on the nursing home's recent government inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A for that category. Our inspection scores are tied to items located in the a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this area have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This nursing home was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies an immediate risk to patient safety or health. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspections are rare in the industry.

Nurse Quality
Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A-. The nursing score assesses a handful of subcategories, however, the primary consideration is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we looked at was long-term care. This nursing home was given an above average nursing grade in our assessment, with a B. Although this isn't quite as elite as several of its other scores, this is nevertheless one of the better grades for this area. Facilities that receive this kind of grade in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure residents are well cared for. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 99.81752 percent of its residents, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia sadly is often a deadly condition for nursing home patients so we prefer when a nursing home doesn't leave this to chance. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
