Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

While this facility received a decent overall rating, its inspections score is notably more impressive than its overall score. Due to a strong health inspection report this year, it received a strong score in that area with a B+. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

We also gave this facility a positive grade in short-term care. This nursing home earned a grade of B+ in this area, which happens to be one of our more favorable grades. In our short-term care grade, we seek to create a sound barometer for rehabilitation services. In this process, we assess the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.6 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

We also awarded this facility a favorable grade in nursing. This facility earned a grade of B in this category, which is one of our better grades. In calculating our nursing ratings, we weigh both staffing levels and the skill levels of those nurses. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

This facility's weakest area is long-term care, which is the final category we looked at. It received a lowly F in this area. Even with several respectable scores in other categories, this grade is still of a concern so we felt obligated to make sure you are aware. Long-term care ratings in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We discovered that this facility provided the vaccine to only 77.77778 percent of its patients, which is somewhat alarming. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best feature in this category.
