Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

The main reason this nursing home received a decent overall grade is its excellent health inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our higher scores in that category, with an A-. This is a notably better score than the facility's overall score, which was decent but not in the elite range. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being quite minor. While this facility had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. A couple of minor deficiencies shouldn't stop you from considering a nursing home.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Another one of this facility's more impressive category grades was in the category of short-term care. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a B. It actually performed better than most nursing homes in this area. Our short-term care grade is generally used to score a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To provide highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to feature higher levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Finally, we assessed the number of patients that eventually returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.1 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

This facility's next best category grade came in the area of nursing. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of C. Nursing grades are primarily based on a facility's nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this facility performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is usually a reliable indicator that a facility has quality controls in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Moving on to the final area, this facility was awarded a decent long-term care score of C. For long-term care residents, the nursing home's primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 92.76316 percent of its patients, which is somewhat less than we were hoping for. Fortunately, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
