Short-term Care Quality
We gave this facility an impressive grade of A for our short-term care rating. This is much more impressive than its overall grade. Our short-term care grades are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a vast spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. This nursing home provides more services with physical therapists and registered nurses than most nursing homes we looked at. This is usually a favorable sign. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that it outperformed the vast majority of nursing homes in the country with 62.3 percent of its patients returning home. This is a significantly higher rate than most nursing homes.
Nurse Quality
We also awarded this facility a favorable grade in nursing. This facility earned a grade of B+ in this category, which is one of our better grades. Our nursing rating is primarily tied to a facility's level of nurse staffing. With 4.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily, this place surpassed the national average. Lastly, this nursing home also performed well in several of the quality measures we looked at. By way of illustration, in terms of the percentage of its patients sustaining falls leading to serious injury, this facility performed as well as just about any place we assessed. Avoiding major falls is often a good indicator that a facility has quality controls in place. Serious falls can generally be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Long-term Care Quality
We awarded this nursing home a grade of just D for our long-term care rating. This is not an impressive grade. For prospective residents in need of a permanent place to live rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 98.666664 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is better than the majority of nursing homes. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
Facility Inspections
Turning our last category of inspections, this nursing home received a grade that's as bad as it gets. Unfortunately, with an F in the inspection category, this facility's overall grade was pulled down significantly. You should pay close attention to any deficiencies on a nursing home's inspection reports when it receives this bad of an inspection rating. We recommend you pay close attention to the severity of those deficiencies. This particular facility was assessed a category G through L deficiency, which rank among the more serious categories of deficiencies. This generally indicates that the deficiencies identified by the government inspectors had potential to pose actual harm to patients. Finally, this facility also received 30 substantiated complaints in recent years. This is yet another bad sign.
