On top of being a quality facility overall, this place excelled in our inspections category, where it earned a grade of A. Few facilities fared better in this area. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This nursing home received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies an immediate threat to patient safety or health. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

While this didn't quite match its scores in some of the categories discussed above, this is still a decent score. We looked at the levels of nurses working for the facility, in addition to the quantity of time the nurses were with patients, in computing our rating in this area. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This figure is significantly below average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics. While this place got dinged a bit for nursing hours per resident, it excelled in some of these quality-based metrics. With fewer than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed very well in this statistic. This is often a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as having a policy of turning residents more frequently.

Switching gears to the next category, this nursing home was awarded a grade of B- for long-term care, which is a decent rating. If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care scores. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Candidly, we were a bit worried that this nursing home provided the vaccine to a relatively low 90.27027 percent of its residents. Nevertheless, this facility excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
