Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of performing well in its overall grade, this facility performed at an even higher level in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A. Our inspection ratings are based on many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this category tend to have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This facility was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that CMS didn't deem any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent risk to resident health or safety. We should note that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in this industry.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Contributing to its profile, this nursing home also earned a grade of B+ for its long-term care rating. This is a well above average score in this area. For prospective patients seeking a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 81.88074 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is a bit lower than we were hoping for but still a decent figure. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's next best category grade came in the area of nursing. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. This wasn't quite on par with some of its other category grades mentioned above. There are several factors within this grade. Many of these datapoints relate to levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place actually excelled in some of the quality measures we looked at. In fact, it performed well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This nursing home's least impressive category was short-term care, which is the final area we analyzed. For this area, we gave this facility a D. Our short-term care grades are considered to be more meaningful for folks needing a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates higher levels of skilled nursing services. This includes not only nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, we learned that this nursing home offered fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most other facilities. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who returned home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
