Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our nursing grade. The nursing rating weighs numerous subcategories. The most important factor is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

In addition, this nursing home also excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned an A-. Few nursing homes performed as well in this category. Our inspection ratings are based on many items found on the a nursing home's government inspections. Nursing homes that excel in this area typically have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This facility was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies an imminent risk to patient health or safety. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home truly excelled in the category of short-term care, where it received a score of A-. Not many nursing homes performed more favorably in this category. In calculating these short-term care grades, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our purpose is to formulate a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.1 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next area we analyzed is long-term care. This facility was given a very good long-term care grade in our assessment, with a B-. Although this wasn't as good as many of its other grades, this remains a respectable score in that category. For residents looking for a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 99.05213 percent of its residents. This facility also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
