Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Places with higher grades in this category typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

The final category we assessed is short-term care, in which this facility received a grade of B. Even though this turned out to be its lowest category rating, this is nevertheless a favorable score. Short-term care grades are generally used to measure a facility's rehabilitation services. To provide good rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must have better levels of highly skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. We weren't able to find information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Finally, we looked at the number of residents that who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.9 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.
