Facility Inspections
We want to point out that this nursing home outperformed its overall grade in the category of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, we gave it one of our highest grades in this category with an A+. Inspection scores account for a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher grades in this category usually have very few of these severe deficiencies. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's next best area was long-term care. We gave it a grade of C in this area. This is basically a middle of the pack grade in this area. For prospective residents seeking a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. One of the factors we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccinations. Fortunately, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 98.97959 percent of its patients. This place keeps its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
Moving on to another strength for this facility, it also earned an elite nursing score. In fact, we gave this facility an D. There are several datapoints included in this area. Most of these factors reflect the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This place offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This statistic is significantly below the national average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing ratings. This place performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these datapoints to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's least impressive area is short-term care, which is the last area we assessed. For this area, we awarded this nursing home a D. Short-term care grades are often used to judge a nursing home's rehabilitation services. In order to offer highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to provide higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. As you might expect, we learned that this place provides significantly less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the typical nursing home. The final metric we looked at in this category is the number of residents that eventually returned home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 0 percent of its patients returning home. This was quite a bit below average.
