While we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to point out its relatively solid inspections in recent years. We gave it a respectable grade of B in this category, which was much better than its overall grade. Our inspection grades are tied to items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key thing to look for on these inspections. You should especially avoid facilities that have severe deficiencies associated with endangerment of patients. This facility was hit with 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered severe. This means that CMS did not deem any of these deficiencies to pose an immediate threat to resident safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.

We also awarded this facility a grade of B- for our nursing rating. The nursing rating is based on quite a few datapoints, but the main one is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which is well below average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility actually excelled in some of the quality measures we assessed. In fact, it scored well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.

We awarded this nursing home a grade of just D for our short-term care score. This is not an impressive grade. In forming our short-term care ratings, we assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our purpose is to devise a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. With a score in this range for this category, we were not shocked to discover this facility was well below average in several staffing areas we assess. The facility offered far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The final datapoint we considered in this area is the percentage of residents who eventually returned home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 3 percent of its residents returning home. This was well below the national average.

Turning to the final category, this facility didn't perform well in this category either. With a rock bottom grade of F in long-term care, this is about as as uninspiring as it gets. Facilities that don't fare well in long-term care often don't provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in a few of the areas of routine healthcare services we looked at. After looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination record. We were not able to find information on vaccination rates. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.
