Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To go along with its strong overall score, we gave this nursing home a grade of A for the area of inspections. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This facility received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe. This tells you that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent risk to patient safety or health. We should note that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home was awarded a strong short-term care grade as well. We awarded it one of our higher scores in that area with a score of B+. In our short-term care score, we attempt to create a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation services. In this process, we assess a facility's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this nursing home provided registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. The last statistic we assessed in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that 6.2 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The third highest category we awarded this nursing home in any area came in the category of long-term care, where we gave it a B-. If you are looking for anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care scores. One of the factors we considered on top of nurse's aid hours is vaccinations. Thankfully, this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. This nursing home also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

Switching gears to our last category, this facility was given an acceptable nursing grade of B-. The nursing score weighs many subcategories, most of which are associated with quantities of nurse staffing. This place averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily, which is a very low figure. Lastly, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics. While this nursing home got docked a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it excelled in a few of these quality metrics. With fewer than five percent of its residents experiencing pressure ulcers, it did very well in this statistic. This can be a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as having a system of turning a patient even once per day.
