Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to point out its relatively favorable inspections in recent years. We gave it a respectable grade of B in this category, which was much better than its overall grade. Inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of B-. Our nursing category analyzes several subcategories, many of which are based on nursing hours. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place surprisingly excelled in some of the quality measures we looked at. It performed well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's second least favorable score was long-term care, where it earned just a D in that category. This is a relatively poor grade. For long-term care residents, the nursing home's primary objective is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination records. We were pleased to find that this facility vaccinates 94.957985 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this facility also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we analyzed was short-term care, proved to be this facility's least impressive area. We gave this nursing home a grade of D in this category. Our short-term care grades are believed to be more meaningful for people needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not only nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Given its score in this category, we were not surprised to learn that this place is well below average in terms of the number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we looked at. Frankly, this was about what we expected here. The final metric we considered in this category is the number of residents who returned home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 2.8 percent of its patients returning home. This was well below the national average.
