Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for the area of inspections. Our inspection grades are tied to pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this category have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This nursing home was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies an imminent risk to patient health or safety. We should point out that deficiency-free inspections are rare in this industry.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to this nursing home's list of achievements, it also received a very favorable long-term care grade. We gave them an elite grade of A- in this area. Long-term care ratings in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. After assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 99.07693 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents out of the hospital. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Grade: B

Turning to the next area, this nursing home also received a grade of B for its short-term care rating. This is an above average score in this category. Short-term care ratings are based on the facility's quantity of skilled nursing services. This includes a broad range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. It does not appear that this nursing home submitted information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the number of residents that eventually returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

Turning to our final category, this facility received a grade of B- for nursing, which is an acceptable score. When calculating a facility's nursing grade, we look at the number of hours nurses spend with patients and the levels of training of those nurses. This place averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, which is well below average. Lastly, despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this nursing home performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally a reliable indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place.
