Medical Staff Hours Per Patient (2019)
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Arguably the most important factor we consider in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better scores in this area most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Unfortunately, it does not appear that we have deficiency data for this facility. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
This first-rate facility also dominated in the category of short-term care, where we gave it a score of A+. Only a small group of nursing homes fared better in this category. With our short-term care grade, we attempt to forge a sound measure for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we look at the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. One of this nursing home's strengths is registered nurse hours. We found that it offers more care from registered nurses to its residents than most facilities. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients that returned home from this nursing home. We found that it performed as well as just about any facility with 71.7 percent of its patients returning home. Most facilities are below 50 percent in this statistic.
Long-term Care Quality
In the third category we looked at, this nursing home was given elite marks in the area of long-term care. For this reason, it was given one of our best scores in that category with a of A+. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination data. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find information about this nursing home's vaccination rates. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
The fourth category we graded was nursing, where this facility was given a grade of A. This wrapped up a very impressive report card. Very few facilities received an A- or higher in in each area we assessed. Nursing scores are largely based on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This place provides an incredible 7 hours of nursing care per patient each day. Out of this total, many of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the most highly highly trained levels of nurses. On top of providing high levels of care, this place also excelled in the quality-based metrics we looked at. It performed as well as any facility in Kentucky in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
