This nursing home also was strong in the area of long-term care, where we gave it a grade of A. Not many nursing homes received a better grade in this area. For residents looking for a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. One of the statistics we considered after nursing hours was vaccinations. Unfortunately, it does not look like this facility provided vaccination data. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

The final area we analyzed is nursing, where this nursing home received an A. This finished off a very strong report card. Very few facilities received an A- or higher in in each area we assessed. In determining our nursing scores, we look at both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the skill levels of those nurses. This particular nursing home provided 0.7 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed certain nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these statistics as reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care being provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
