Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to receiving a great overall score, this nursing home performed even better in the area of inspections which is associated with the facility's recent inspections. We awarded it a grade of A+ for this area, which is one of our highest scores. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite insignificant. We weren't able to locate deficiency data for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Additionally, this nursing home also was awarded favorable long-term care grades this year. Indeed, we gave it one of our better scores in that area, with a score of B+. For residents seeking a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 90 percent of its residents. This is slightly below what we were hoping for but still a respectable percentage. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The third best category we gave this facility in any area came in the area of short-term care, where we gave it a grade of B-. Our short-term care grade is commonly used to grade a facility's rehabilitation services To provide quality rehabilitation services, facilities generally must offer higher levels of highly skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 3.9 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The next category we analyzed is nursing. This nursing home was awarded a C in the area. Our nursing rating assesses many subcategories, many of which are associated with nursing hours. This place provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a low total compared with most other nursing homes. Finally, our nursing grades also consider some quality-focused statistics. We especially like to look at the percent of patients who suffered pressure ulcers and major falls. Sometimes these metrics are indicators of the quality of nursing care, since better care can reduce these issues.
