Registered Staff Hours
Short-term Care Quality
On top of earning a great overall grade, this nursing home received an A+ in the category of short-term care. In computing our short-term care grades, we quantify the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The goal is to devise a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last item we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 6.9 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.
Facility Inspections
Turning to our inspection category, this facility excelled in that area, which is based on the facility's recent inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A for that category. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better grades in this area typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This facility was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.

Nurse Quality
To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. In determining our nursing scores, we weigh both nursing hours and the skill levels of the nurses. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we graded is long-term care, where this facility was given a grade of C. Although this turned out to be its weakest category grade, this is nevertheless not a poor grade. Long-term care grades are based in part on a nursing home's volume of nursing care. This includes a vast spectrum of personal care services, ranging from assistance with activities of daily living to routine healthcare services. One of the factors we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccines. Fortunately, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 98.86363 percent of its residents. Lastly, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
