Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

We also found that this facility excelled in long-term care. We awarded them an A+ in this category. Facilities that receive this type of grade in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure residents are well cared for. In addition to providing elite levels of nurse staffing, this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 98.21429 percent of its patients. This statistic is also significantly higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 1.66 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes.

Nurse Quality

One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+. The nursing category assesses quite a few subcategories, many of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This particular facility provided 4.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This was one of the more impressive totals we found. In addition, a significant portion of this care was provided by registered nurses, which are highly skilled nurses. On top of offering impressive levels of care, this nursing home also excelled in several of the quality-based metrics we assessed. With under five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it fared as well as any place West Virginia in this category.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

The third area we analyzed is short-term care. Contributing to its strong resume, this facility also performed well in that category. In fact, it received a grade of of A- for the area. Our short-term care grades are believed to be more important for residents needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation generally mandates additional highly-skilled nursing services. This means not only nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. One of this nursing home's strength is that it offers more hours of care from registered nurses to its residents. The last metric we assessed in this area is the number of patients who returned home from the facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home rather than remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Finally, we looked at the area of inspections. This facility received a very impressive grade in this category. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a B+. Our inspection scores are tied to data points found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this category tend to have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients.
