Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this facility also received an A+ long-term care grade. Long-term care ratings in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. Once we looked at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 99.13043 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients out of the hospital. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition, this facility received high marks in the area of nursing. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A+. Our nursing grade is largely associated with the facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Turning our next area, we awarded this facility a grade of A- for its short-term care grade. This is a very impressive rating. In the area of short-term care, we try to qualify measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We assess a facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Another impressive feature for this place is its inspection score. In that category, we gave this facility an A-, finishing off its straight A performance. Perhaps the most critical factor we look at in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Places with higher grades in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This facility received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to create an immediate threat to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
