Facility Inspections

Grade: A

One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an impressive inspection grade. In fact, inspections turned out to be its best category. In that area, we awarded this facility an A. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with better grades in this category typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. It does not appear that we were able to find information on deficiency's for this nursing home. Without having access to complete deficiency related data for this nursing home, it was a challenge to evaluate it in this category.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home also was given a top-shelf short-term care score. Indeed, this ended up being this nursing home's second strongest category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A. In the area of short-term care, we attempt to evaluate measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final measure we assessed in this area is the number of residents that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 5.3 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A- in our nursing category. There are a number of factors included in this category. Many of the datapoints reflect staffing levels. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

Moving on to the final category, this nursing home was awarded a decent long-term care grade. Although this was not as good as several of its other category grades, this is really not a major area of concern. If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care ratings. One of the factors we considered after nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. Thankfully, this facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to 94.565216 percent of its residents. This nursing home also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
