Facility Inspections
While this nursing home's overall score was not a highlight, it actually really excelled in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A- for that area, which is one of our best scores. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. It is typically best to avoid places that had too many severe deficiencies. This facility was hit with 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to cause an immediate threat to resident health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. Nursing scores are largely tied to the facility's nurse staffing. This place averaged just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is an alarmingly low total. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility fared well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's second worse category was short-term care, where it received just a D in that category. This is a well below average score. Our short-term care ratings are arguably more important for patients in need of a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires additional highly-skilled nursing. This means not merely nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. With its score in this area, we were not stunned to learn that this facility was well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we looked at. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents that were able to return home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.2 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we analyzed is long-term care, in which this nursing home was given a poor score in this category also. It received a lowly F for this area, which is definitely very concerning. When nursing homes receive this kind of score in this category it is a bad sign for patient care and it may mean that the place is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination records. We were disappointed to learn that this nursing home vaccinated just 78.91157 percent of its patients for pneumonia. To our surprise, this nursing home actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
