Facility Inspections
While we were fairly low on this facility overall, we awarded it a grade of A- for our inspections rating. This score is significantly more impressive than the facility's overall score. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G through L. This tells you CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's second most favorable category was long-term care. We awarded it a B- in this category. This is essentially a slightly below average grade in this area. In our long-term care rating, we analyze the sheer quantity of services offered by a nursing home, as well as some quality datapoints. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home administered the vaccine to 96 percent of its residents, which is a very respectable datapoint. Finally, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's poor nursing grade where it received an F. The nursing rating consists of many subcategories, however, the paramount consideration is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This place offered just 0.2 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is an alarmingly low total. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing ratings. This facility performed well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the fourth area, this nursing home really didn't perform well in this category either. With a poor grade of F in short-term care, this is just about as terrible as it gets. In computing our short-term care scores, we size up a facility's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This area is considered to be a reliable measure of a facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. Based on its grade in this area, we were not surprised to find that this nursing home is well below average in terms of the quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its residents based on the figures we assessed. The last measure we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 3.7 percent of its residents returning home.
