Facility Inspections
In addition to being an elite nursing home overall, this facility performed well in the area of inspections, where it earned an A+. Very few facilities fared as well in this area. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. While this place had a few deficiencies on its report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in this industry.
Short-term Care Quality
Among its many elite scores, this facility was awarded a strong short-term care grade. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A in that area. Our short-term care scores are based on a nursing home's quantity of skilled nursing services. This means a broad scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last datapoint we considered in this area is the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from the facility. We found that 5.5 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A in our nursing category. Our nursing grade consists of quite a few datapoints, many of which are tied to quantities of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we analyzed was long-term care. We awarded this nursing home a decent grade in that area, with a grade of B-. While this is not as strong as a few of its other scores, it is nevertheless not the end of the world. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 85.98726 percent of its residents. This is multiple points below average. Nevertheless, this place keeps its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
