Facility Inspections

Grade: A+

In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with higher scores in this category most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This nursing home was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. This proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of A. The nursing score weighs numerous subcategories. The most important variable is the quantity of hours nurses spend with patients. This facility provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We also want to point out the fact that this facility was awarded a first-rate score of A in our short-term care category. Our short-term care ratings are believed to be more important for individuals in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not just nursing services, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we assessed in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

The final category we rated was long-term care, where this facility received a B+. This wrapped up a first-rate report card. Few nursing homes earned a B+ or higher in every category. Facilities that receive this type of grade in this category tend to provide consistent around the clock care to ensure residents are well cared for. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 92.85714 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
