Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

On top of receiving a great overall score, this nursing home excelled at short-term care. In fact, we gave it an impressive grade of A for that category. Our short-term care grades are important for individuals in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes more highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a wide scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last datapoint we considered in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A. When computing our nursing ratings, we assess both staffing levels and the training levels of those nurses. This facility provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

We gave this nursing home a score of A- for our inspections rating. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher grades in this area typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This facility received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor dings aren't the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final category we rated is long-term care. We awarded this facility a decent score in that area, with a grade of B-. Although this was not as dominant as some of this nursing home's other grades, it is nevertheless not a poor grade. In determining our long-term care grades, we scrutinize the personal care received by a facility's residents. After we finished assessing the amount of nursing care, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. We were a bit worried that this facility vaccinated a relatively low 82.432434 percent of its residents against pneumonia. On a more positive note, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
