Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

It should also be noted that this nursing home' short-term care score outpaced its overall grade. We awarded it a B for short-term care. In the category of short-term care, we strive to assess measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final datapoint we considered in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. In that category, we gave this nursing home an B-. The nursing grade features several subcategories. The most heavily weighted one is the amount of time nurses spent with residents. This nursing home provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a relatively low total compared with most other nursing homes. Lastly, although this place got dinged a bit for nursing hours, it excelled in a few of our quality measures. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed well in this area.

Facility Inspections

Grade: C

This nursing home also received a decent inspection grade. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of C. Inspection grades are based on several datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key thing to look for on these reports. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to the well being of residents. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The next category we looked at is long-term care. We gave this facility a C in that area. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is more than the majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
