While we gave this nursing home a terrible overall score, we gave it a B+ for our inspections category. This is the result of the nursing home receiving a decent government inspection report this year. Inspection scores are tied to many items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid nursing homes with severe deficiencies associated with endangerment of patients. This place was hit with 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that CMS did not consider any of these deficiencies to be an immediate threat to resident health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

This nursing home's second most respectable category is short-term care, but it still earned just a D in that category. This turns out to be a relatively poor score. Our short-term care ratings are considered to be more important for individuals needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually requires additional highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not just nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Given its grade in this category, we were not stunned to discover that this nursing home is well below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the figures we looked at. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. This facility did not fare well here either. We found that just 46.3 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

We were stunned to find that this facility also excelled in the area of nursing. We gave it an impressive grade of D for that category, which is one of our best grades. The nursing rating is based on several factors, most of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This facility provided 3.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is below the national average. This facility also had terrible marks in some of the quality-based metrics to pair with its weak nursing hours. We looked at the percentage of residents suffering pressure ulcers and we were disappointed. This place was at approximately 1.5 times the national average in this area. This is a bad sign when you consider that many bed sores could be avoided with better nursing care. This metric helped pull down this nursing home's nursing rating significantly.

The final category we assessed was long-term care, which turned out to be a weak spot for this facility. We gave this nursing home a grade of just D in long-term care. For patients looking for a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are very important. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 98.51852 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this place also keeps its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
