Facility Inspections
This nursing home's best category grade came in the category of health inspections. In this area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B+. It actually outperformed most nursing homes in this area. Inspection grades are tied to many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this area have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This place received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered severe. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies an imminent risk to resident health or safety. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
Additionally, we also wanted to note that this facility was given impressive short-term care marks this year. We gave them one of our more favorable grades in that area, with a B+. This proved to be the facility's second best score. In forming these short-term care ratings, we analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to formulate a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final measure we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that 5.5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality
An additional reason we rated this nursing home so highly is that it earned an A+ nursing grade. This is as good as it gets in this category. There are numerous subcategories included in this category. Most of the subcategories relate to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as having a protocol of moving patients at least once a day.
Long-term Care Quality
Moving on to the final category, we gave this facility a grade of D for the area of long-term care. This is the facility's least impressive category score. Of course, this score hurt the nursing home's overall grade to some degree. Long-term care ratings in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination record. Frankly, we were a bit concerned this facility vaccinated 83.666664 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is quite a few points below average. To our surprise, this facility actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
