Facility Inspections

Grade: A

One of the many reasons this ended up being a great nursing home is it received a very impressive grade in inspections. In fact, inspections turned out to be its best category. In this category, we gave this facility an A. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Nursing grades are heavily correlated with quantity of nursing care available. This particular nursing home provided 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Turning our next area, we awarded this facility a score of A- for our long-term care rating. This is a very strong score. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 91.40625 percent of its residents, which is a bit below what we were hoping for. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The last area we rated proved to be this nursing home's worst category. However, even its weakest link would be a highlight for many nursing homes. We gave it a favorable grade of B for our short-term care category. In calculating our short-term care scores, we assess a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This area is more often than not a useful assessment of a facility's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents that were able to return home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
