Facility Inspections
While we did not have many favorable things to say about this place's overall grade, it did receive a respectable government inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent score in that area with a score of B-. We believe that one of the most important factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially focus on the severity of those deficiencies. This nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to pose an immediate threat to patient safety or health. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Nurse Quality
We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of B-. Our nursing score is mostly based on a facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures. Although this place got docked a bit for nursing hours, it excelled in some of these quality-based measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it did remarkably well in this statistic. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a system of turning a resident more often.

Short-term Care Quality
We also gave this facility a decent grade in the category of short-term care, with a grade of B-. Our short-term care scores are considered to be most meaningful for folks in need of a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates additional highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not merely nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The final item we assessed in this category is the number of residents that returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 6.5 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below the national average.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's worst area was long-term care, which is the last category we looked at. For this category, we gave this nursing home a grade of just D. For patients looking for a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. One of the criteria we considered on top of nursing hours is vaccines. Fortunately, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 96.74419 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this nursing home also keeps its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
