Facility Inspections

Grade: A

While this facility's overall grade was not bad, it really fared well in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category, which is one of our highest scores. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher scores in this area typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This nursing home was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies an imminent threat to patient health or safety. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

In addition, we gave this nursing home a grade of B in our long-term care category. This happens to be one of our more impressive scores. When facilities receive this kind of score in this category it is a good sign for patient care and indicates that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses aids. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 98.48485 percent of its residents, which is very impressive. Pneumonia sadly can be a deadly ailment for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a facility does not leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next most favorable category we awarded this nursing home in any area came in the area of short-term care, where we awarded it a grade of B-. Short-term care grades are vital for individuals in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates more skilled nursing. This includes a vast spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. It does not appear that this nursing home provided information on registered nurse or physical therapist staffing. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the percentage of patients that eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 5.3 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

Turning to the last area, this facility was given an acceptable nursing score of C. Nursing grades are based largely on quantity of nursing care available. This nursing home provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This figure is significantly below the national average. Lastly, while this place got docked a bit for nursing hours per resident, it excelled in some of our quality-based measures. With less than five percent of its patients experiencing pressure ulcers, it performed remarkably well in this area.
