While this facility's overall grade was decent, it really fared well in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A+ for that category, which is one of our best scores. Our inspection grades weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with better grades in this area usually have few of these severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report, which is still very impressive. Overall, this is a pretty favorable inspection.

We also gave this nursing home an impressive grade in long-term care. This nursing home earned a grade of B+ in this area, which turns out to be one of our higher scores. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care typically provide patients with more supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. After assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 99.66555 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is higher than most nursing homes. The last datapoint we assessed is the facility's hospitalization rate. Here we found that this place had 4.76 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. While this admittedly wasn't as impressive as some of its other scores in this category, this statistic may be skewed for some facilities based on the medical complexity of residents.

Turning to another strength for this facility, it also received an elite nursing grade. In fact, we gave this nursing home an D. Our nursing grade weighs quite a few components, but the primary one is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home averaged just 3.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This figure is significantly below the national average. On top of its weak nursing hour totals, this facility earned poor scores in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in calculating our nursing grades. We found that more of this nursing home's residents suffered falls which led to major injury. We believe that many falls could be avoided with better nursing care. This metric contributed to this place receiving a poor nursing grade.

The last category we assessed was short-term care. Sadly, it received an F for this category, which is a poor grade. This is obviously a major concern. With our short-term care category, we try to craft a sound gauge for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at a facility's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. With a score in this range in this area, we weren't shocked to find this facility was below average in two of the key staffing metrics we assess. In fact, it provided far fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other facilities. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who returned home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 39 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
