Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of being a strong facility overall, it also received A+ government inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually perfect. Inspection ratings are based on items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this category typically have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

This first-rate facility also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Our nursing rating is based on numerous factors. The most important one is the number of hours nurses spent with patients. This facility provided 4.2 hours of nursing care per patient per day, which is among the better figures in the country. A significant percentage of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which are one of the most highly skilled levels of nurses. We were very impressed by these statistics. On top of offering high levels of care, this nursing home was also above average in each of the major quality-based metrics we assessed in this category. It performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

The third category we analyzed was short-term care. This facility also received an A+ short-term care grade, rendering it one of the few nursing homes to be awarded several A+ category scores. Our short-term care grade is often employed to gauge a nursing home's rehabilitation services To offer good rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must feature higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. One of this place's strengths is that it provides more than seven hours of care per week from registered nurses per patient. This is the gold standard in this metric, as it's about 1.5 times higher than a typical place's level of registered nurse staffing. The final datapoint we looked at in this category is the number of patients that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. This place performed as well as just about any facility in Nebraska with 62.9 percent of its patients returning home. For most facilities, less than half of their short-stay residents are able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

In the final area, this facility also was awarded an impressive long-term care grade, with a grade of A-. This topped off a rare straight A report card. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in this category it typically means it has plenty of staff and is an overall good place to reside on a permanent basis. In addition to really impressive nursing hour statistics, this facility's vaccination record is superb also. Indeed, this nursing home vaccinated 98.96907 percent of its patients against pneumonia. This combination proved to be successful as this nursing home keeps its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
