Short-term Care Quality
Although we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a decent short-term care rating this year. We gave it a B- in that category, which was the closest thing to a bright spot we could find for this place. With our short-term care grade, we try to create a meaningful measure for rehabilitation. In this process, we look at the nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. In this facility's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than the typical facility. The hope is always that this does not adversely impact the quality of care. Finally, we considered the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6.1 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
Long-term Care Quality
We were also pleasantly surprised to learn that this facility earned a solid long-term care rating in our assessment. We gave it a grade of C in that area. For prospective patients looking for a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 98.93048 percent of its patients. Lastly, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Facility Inspections
Unfortunately, this place received an F for its inspection score. This is an important category. Scores in this range usually point to red flags on the nursing home's government inspection reports. For facilities with bad inspection ratings, you should really focus on any severe deficiencies found on their inspection reports. This particular nursing home was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only favorable thing we found is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that suggest that they created a threat to patient safety or health. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
Nurse Quality
Turning to our final category, this nursing home really did not fare very well here either. With an abysmal grade of F in nursing, this is just about as terrible as it gets. Our nursing rating considers many factors. The most heavily weighted variable is the amount of time nurses spend with patients. This place averaged a meager 0.2 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is an alarmingly low total. In addition to ranking below average in nursing hours per resident, this nursing home also had poor scores in the quality-based measures we looked at in determining our nursing ratings. We looked at the percent of patients experiencing pressure ulcers and major falls. This place was at approximately 1.5 times the national average in both of these metrics. This is likely a bad sign when you consider that many bed sores and falls are believed to be preventable with better nursing care. These scores pulled down this nursing home's nursing rating significantly.
