Facility Inspections
This nursing home earned a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to emphasize its nearly flawless inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A- in this category. Inspection ratings account for several factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better grades in this area generally have very few severe deficiencies. This facility received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered severe. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to create an immediate threat to resident health or safety. A few minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. Nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of B-. The nursing score consists of many datapoints, but the paramount consideration is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Finally, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this place actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is often an indicator that a facility has sufficient quality controls in place.

Long-term Care Quality
The third best category we gave this nursing home in any area came in the area of long-term care, where we awarded it a C. In our long-term care grade, we focus on the quantity of care provided by a facility, as well as a series of qualitative measures. After assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination record. We were optimistic to discover that this facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Finally, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we scored is short-term care, is this facility's worst category. We awarded this nursing home a D in that category. In our short-term care assessment, we attempt to craft a meaningful barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we look at a facility's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Based on its grade in this area, we weren't stunned to find that this place is well below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the figures we looked at. Honestly, this was about what we expected to find. The final measure we considered in this category is the percentage of patients that returned home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 3.4 percent of its residents returning home. This was well below average.
