Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

While we did not have many positive things to say about this facility's overall score, it earned a respectable inspection report this year. It received a decent grade in that area with a B-. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some are relatively minor. Fortunately, although this nursing home had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This tells you the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home received its second best category grade in the category of short-term care. We gave this nursing home a grade of B- in this category, which is a reasonably acceptable score. Our short-term care scores are thought to be most meaningful for those needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not merely nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. The important question is whether this also affected quality of care. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. We found that 5.3 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home received its third most favorable category grade in the category of long-term care. We awarded this nursing home a grade of B- in this category, which is a reasonably acceptable score. Long-term care grades assess a facility's personal care instead of the skilled therapy and medical services that are critical to a rehabilitation facility. One of the statistics we considered on top of nurse's aid hours is vaccinations. Fortunately, this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 99.5671 percent of its patients. Lastly, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The last category we analyzed was nursing. We awarded it a grade of C in that area. This is a decent grade in this category. There are many subcategories within this area. Many of these subcategories are tied to the quantity of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a lower figure than we were hoping for. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this place actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is typically an indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place.
