To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. In calculating our nursing grades, we analyze both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the training levels of those nurses. This nursing home provided 5.5 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, which is among the highest figures in the country. A significant portion of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which are one of the most highly skilled levels of nurses. We are very impressed by these figures. In addition to providing high levels of nursing care, this nursing home was also above average in each of the major quality-based metrics we looked at in this category. By way of illustration, it performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. These datapoints are generally good measures of the quality of nursing care a nursing home provides.

In our last area, we gave this nursing home an A+ for our short-term care grade. This completed a very impressive report card. With our short-term care rating, we attempt to create a valuable barometer for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. This facility is the gold standard in terms of skilled nursing staffing. In fact, it supplied approximately 1.5 times as many physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than the average facility. This is what we like to find when grading a facility in this category. The final measure we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
