Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

In addition to being a first rate facility overall, this facility also performed well in long-term care, where it received an impressive grade of A-. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Nursing homes that excel in this category typically provide residents with closer supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. One of the datapoints we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccines. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 97.61905 percent of its patients. This is a great way to minimize unnecessary deaths for the elderly population. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.31 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. In that category, we awarded this facility an A-. Our nursing grade looks at the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We consider both the levels of licensure of those nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with residents. This facility provided 3.8 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some quality-based measures in this category. This place fared well in some of the quality measures we looked at. By way of illustration, in terms of the percentage of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, this facility performed better than the national average. This is generally an indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Pressure ulcers can generally be prevented with better nursing care.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home has had near flawless inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A- in this category. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Moving on to our final category, this nursing home also performed well in the short-term care category. We awarded it an A- for this category. This topped off a straight A report card. Short-term care grades are crucial for patients needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires higher levels of skilled nursing. This means a wide range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. One of this nursing home's strength is that it offers more hours of care from registered nurses to its residents. Finally, we considered the number of patients who returned home from this nursing home. This place outperformed the majority of facilities in the country with 50.3 percent of its patients returning home.
