Facility Inspections
The main reason this ended up being a decent nursing home is that it earned an excellent inspection score. Its inspection score was far better than its overall grade. In the inspections category, we gave it an A. Our inspection scores are based on several datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this category typically have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This nursing home was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that CMS did not consider any of these deficiencies to be an imminent risk to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was given an impressive long-term care grade. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B+ in that category, which happens to be one of our better. In a long-term care setting, the primary objective is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 80.19802 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is slightly lower than we expected but still a decent percentage. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality
We also gave this nursing home a decent score in the category of nursing care, with a grade of C. Our nursing rating assesses many datapoints, but the main consideration is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Finally, although this facility got docked a bit for nursing hours, it actually excelled in a few of our quality metrics. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it fared well in this statistic.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we analyzed was short-term care, which proved to be this facility's weakest area. We gave it an abysmal F in this area, which is obviously very concerning. In our short-term care score, we endeavor to forge a meaningful barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze the facility's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home offered fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most facilities. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients that were able to return home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
