Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition to being a respectable facility overall, this facility really excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned an A. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with better grades in this category most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This particular nursing home received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

One of this nursing home's more respectable category grades was in the area of long-term care. This wound up being its second most favorable category. In that category, we gave this facility a grade of C. Our long-term care grade is used to gauge a facility's performance as a traditional convalescent home, as opposed to focusing more on the skilled nursing services provided by a rehabilitation facility. One of the factors we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours is vaccines. Thankfully, this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. Lastly, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.04 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Another strength of this nursing home is its favorable grade in nursing. We gave them one of our better scores in that area, with an impressive grade of D. The nursing score features several factors. The most heavily weighted one is the number of hours nurses spent with patients. This place offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing scores. This place fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these areas to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The last category we assessed is short-term care, which turned out to be a weak link for this nursing home. We gave this facility a grade of D for the area of short-term care. With our short-term care rating, we endeavor to forge a valuable barometer for rehabilitation services. In this process, we assess a facility's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Considering its grade in this area, we weren't stunned to discover that this facility is well below average in terms of the number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. Frankly, this was about what we expected here. Finally, we considered the number of patients who who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
