Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

The main reason this nursing home received a decent overall score is its impeccable government inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our higher scores in that category, with a grade of A-. This is a much better grade than the place's overall score, which was decent but not in the elite range. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection scores. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are quite minor. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home performed well in our nursing category. In fact, we gave it an B- for that category, which is one of our best grades. Nursing scores are mostly based on a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This figure is far below the national average. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is generally a reliable indicator that a facility has sufficient quality controls in place. Some falls could be avoided if a facility supplies enough nurses aids to assist its patients.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

We also awarded this facility a middle of the road score in the area of short-term care, where we gave it a grade of C. Short-term care scores are based in part on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, it does not look like this facility submitted information on registered nurse or physical therapist staffing. The last metric we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.7 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The final category we graded is long-term care. We gave this facility a C in that area. Our long-term care grades are more meaningful for those needing more conventional services associated with personal care. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 99.45055 percent of its residents. This nursing home also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
