Facility Inspections
This nursing home's best category grade came in the category of health inspections. In that area, we gave this nursing home a B+. It outperformed most facilities in this area. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection grades. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being quite insignificant. While this facility had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also received an impressive long-term care grade. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B+ in this category, which happens to be one of our better. Long-term care ratings in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. After looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 96.91877 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is more than the majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home's next best category was nursing. We awarded it a grade of B- in this category. This is basically a middle of the road grade in this category. The nursing grade weighs a variety of datapoints. The most important factor is the amount of time nurses spend with patients. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics. While this facility got dinged a bit for nursing hours, it excelled in a few of these quality-based metrics. With fewer than five percent of its residents experiencing pressure ulcers, it did very well in this area. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by having a protocol of turning a patient more frequently.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we assessed is short-term care. We awarded this facility a C in this area. Our short-term care scores are considered to be more important for people in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually requires higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not just nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, we were not able to find registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.1 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
