Facility Inspections
On top of being an elite nursing home overall, this nursing home excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned an A+. Few facilities performed as well in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are quite insignificant. While this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. In fact, nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that area, we gave this nursing home an A+. Nursing grades are based largely on levels of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility also was awarded a strong long-term care grade. In fact, this turned out to be this nursing home's third most impressive category score. In that category, we gave this facility a grade of A. Facilities that receive this kind of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure residents are well cared for. Once we concluded our assessment of the amount of care provided by nurses, we next considered the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia sadly is often a life or death ailment for nursing home residents so we like it when a nursing home does not leave this to chance. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the last category, this nursing home was awarded a very strong short-term care rating. We gave it a B+ in this category, topping off one of our better report cards. Our short-term care grade is often employed to score a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To offer highly graded rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must offer better levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last measure we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 4.3 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
