Facility Inspections
One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Our inspection grades account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area tend to have few of these severe deficiencies. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility received dominant marks in the category of short-term care. Consequently, it received one of our most impressive grades in that category with a score of A+. In determining these short-term care ratings, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The objective is to devise a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last statistic we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality
This facility received a very good nursing grade this year as well. It received one of our better scores in that category with a grade of B+. Nursing grades are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as employing a protocol of moving a resident even once per day.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we assessed is long-term care, which was a weak spot for this nursing home. We gave this nursing home a D in long-term care, making this the nursing home's least impressive area. We'd nevertheless recommend that you consider all of a facility's category grades. If you are seeking anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care scores. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home vaccinated 97.377045 percent of its residents, which is a very respectable percentage. Surprisingly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
