Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being quite minor. This place received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to create an immediate threat to patient safety or health. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
We also wanted to draw your attention to the fact that this facility was awarded a top-shelf score of A in our short-term care category. In the area of short-term care, we seek to evaluate measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess a facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who returned home from this nursing home. We found that 6.2 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality
The next category we analyzed is long-term care. Contributing to its elite profile, this facility also performed well in that area. In fact, we awarded it a of A in that category. Nursing homes that receive this kind of grade in this category typically provide consistent around the clock care to make sure residents are kept in good health. After considering the quantity of nursing care, we turned to the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia can be a dangerous health condition for nursing home residents so we like it when a facility doesn't leave its residents vulnerable. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Nurse Quality
In the final category, this facility also was awarded a very strong nursing grade, with an A-. This completed an elusive straight A report card. When computing our nursing ratings, we assess both nursing hours and the training levels of those nurses. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as having a system of turning patients more frequently.
