Nurse Quality
We also would like to note that this facility excelled in our nursing score. We gave them an impressive grade of A+ in this area. Nursing scores are primarily associated with the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Facility Inspections
Turning to inspections, this facility excelled in that area, which is based on the nursing home's government inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A for that category. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better grades in this area typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This nursing home received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to be an immediate threat to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality
The next category we assessed is long-term care. Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also performed well in that category. In fact, it received a of A for that area. When facilities receive this type of grade in this category it is a good sign for patient care and indicates that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. One of the criteria we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccinations. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its residents. This is a great way to avoid unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the senior population. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
In our final area, we awarded this facility a grade of A for our short-term care score. This topped off a first-rate report card. Our short-term care grades are probably most critical for patients in need of rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation typically mandates higher levels of skilled nursing services. This includes not merely nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6.2 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
